  • Lilla Rödde Museum, in Blentarp. A famous collection of textiles, Flemish tapestry and 18th century furniture in a typical Skåne farmhouse with courtyard. The museum is open from May to September, Sundays 13.00 – 16.00. Tel: 0416-138 16.
  • Cultural Östarp, a living agricultural environment from the 1830s and 1930s. You can visit Östarp throughout the year, and entrance is free. During the summer, Gamlegård and its garden keep open, and museum guides are there to tell you about the farm and the garden.

  • Kumlatofta, an ancient village with three old farmhouses, all with courtyards. The village has been listed.
  • Visit Storkhägnet (the stork sanctuary) at Karups Nygård and watch both free and caged birds feed their young.

  • Sövde: A beautiful churchyard on a headland. Other interesting places on the banks of Sövdesjön include Sövde Musterier (cider and juice manufacturers), Tel: 0416-160 01, and Sövdefisk (fresh and smoked fish), Tel: 0416-161 25.
  • Sövdeborgs slott, 16th century manor house with magnificent stucco work. The house is in a romantic park with imposing rhododendrons, canals and bridges.
  • There is a beautiful nature reserve between the lakes known as Sövdesjön and Snogeholmssjön. The reserve, Snogeholms Strövområde, offers opportunities for fishing canoeing and rambling. There are wind shelters for camping and sites for tents and caravans as well as cabins for rent from Skogssällskapet, Tel: 0416-160 65. The Sjöbo kaffestuga is a 18th century half-timbered house and popular café where you pay your money and eat as many homemade cakes as you like. Open everyday, Tel: 0416-150 03.
  • The old mill in the centre of Sjöbo was built in 1740. It is managed by the local mill society. Info from Jörgen Nilsson, Tel: 0416-194 08.
    Elfstrand’s Pottery – Working life museum with, among other things, a pottery workshop from the previous turn of the century. During the summer they feature exhibitions of contemporary potters. Open during the summer season. 0416-272 01 or 0416-271 66
    The magnificent inn on the main square, Sjöbo Gästgifveri, was built in 1902, Tel: 0416-120 75. The Kommunhuset was built in 1905 as the district courthouse, since 1968 it has been the town hall.
  • The district of Södra Åsum is known for its 12th century church, 18th century stone bridge and 19th century water mill wheel.
  • Omma Halmslöjd is known for corn dollies including Christmas rams, May poles, mobiles, wreathes for more info phone Carina Åkesson, Tel: 0416-128 72.
  • The little village of Öved is known for its monastery, Öveds kloster. The magnificent buildings and park date from the 1760s, it is owned by the Ramel family, www.ovedskloster.com. Close by is a small village centre with grand avenues.
  • To the north of Sjöbo is Bjärsjölagårds Slott. The main building dates from the 1760s and is now owned by the county agricultural society. Today the manor house is used as a conference centre. A traditional Christmas Fair is held at the manor house every year in December; close by are Adam & Eve, two 19th century limestone kilns that once served the district. For more info ring 0415-412 90
  • Brandstad Prästgård, is the oldest vicarage in Skåne, it was built in the 1680s. Today it is open to the public and visitors can see late 19th century fixtures and fittings. Open may – august, Sundays 13-16. Tel: 0416-350 10.
  • Vollsjö and Frenninge, is the birthplace of Fritiof Nilsson Piraten, one of Sweden’s best-loved authors. Piraten, who was born in Vollsjö, was inspired by local characters and environment. Visit the Piraten museum, open every day during the summer.

  • Hallbergs folk museum and Hallberg stones: The home, inventory and 13 stones were carved in stone by Nils Nilsson in praise of God between 1818 and 1896.

  • Hörjelgården belongs to the Skåne Nature Conservation Society. The buildings, meadows and pastures describe life the 16th century, the plant life dates from the Stone Age, Tel: 0417-270 35.
  • Fyledalen is a valley that stretches from the southeast part of the municipality of Sjöbo to the municipality of Tomelilla. The beautiful valley is filled with fauna and flora including such rare birds as kites, goshawks, buzzards, kestrels, European sea eagles and golden eagles.
  • Sjöbo Christmas museum is open Sundays between 12.00-17.00.
